On March 4th, we took a beautiful drive up the Ennis, MT to pick up the latest member of the Hielan pack. Just south of Ennis and a little west of the Madison River, we met Larry Thompson, owner of Stonefly Retrievers and picked up Stonefly’s Crimson Balach of the Hielans (Barclay). He’s a beautiful male out of accomplished field lines. We are excited about his future!
FBGR Hielan’s Bonnie Copper Cu (Shelbie) was an impressive 2 for 2 at the Las Vegas Retriever’s Club Hunt Test in Overton, NV over the weekend of Feb 27-29. She sailed through both days. Thanks to Tyce Erickson of Utah Bird Dog trainers for handling her. We are anticipating Shelbie finishing up her Junior Hunt title at the upcoming Weber River Retriever Club test in April in Salt Lake City.
We were very excited for the Wasatch Hunting Retriever Club 2020 Fall Hunt test, mainly because it was my first time handling a dog at a hunt test!! Findlay did outstanding ending up with one pass and one fail. The one fail was handler error (still kicking myself) but we have learned from it and are moving on. Findlay now has 3 out of the 4 passes he needs for his Junior Hunter title. We are looking forward to getting that 4th pass in the spring!
